You will see the term “Cost Effective” thrown around a lot on the Memorywalk website. You may be wondering what exactly does that mean and why is Memorywalk charging less than it’s competitors. Well there are a few reasons and since we are big on transparency I will explain why below.
Firstly, Memorywalk was established in 2007 to create Memorial Videos for those who would like a family heirloom of a loved one who passed away. That expanded to Anniversaries, Weddings, and really any type of special event. I created the company as a side project for myself while gaining experience from the entrepreneurial adventure and my main IT career. I expanded Memorywalk to provide web solutions for small businesses as I saw a need for them to compete online in a more cost effective manner. Getting on the web in Saint John, New Brunswick was costing small businesses a fortune and some companies/professionals went without and suffered because of it.
The goal for Memorywalk has never been to become big and have money flying through our doors. I simply made Memorywalk to help people have a beautiful video of remembrance and a way to compete with larger box stores on the web. I also use an open source CMS called WordPress that I customize for clients. I know the code well and it enables me to charge much less than my competition. Don’t be fooled with this, the sites that WordPress produce are top notch and there is nothing on the web that I have found that is better, including paid solutions costing thousands of dollars. Another way I keep costs low is because I work from home on evenings and weekends to work on my clients projects. There is no office space or employees to pay. I have experience in design, development, and I pay an amazing company, Simple Helix, to host my websites. There is only one downfall to this method and its that I can only handle 1 project at a time. I do not market Memorywalk extensively but almost solely rely on word of mouth, and that seems to keep me busy enough!
If you see a quote from someone that’s less than a Memorywalk quote then I would suggest you not have your friends cousins nephews best friend build your website.
